Bankingblocks is looking for a highly motivated and success-driven merchant risk specialist with experience in the area of scheme risk and compliance for payments acquiring (eCommerce and Point of Sale).

As our scheme risk specialist you will of course be knowledgeable in scheme risk (minimum of Visa/Mastercard) but will also benefit from having experience in understanding and assessment of broader risk elements that inform the merchant risk profile, and which have potential impacts to the Acquirer and other stakeholders, as well as becoming acquainted with Bankingblocks’ risk policies and procedures.

Job Summary

Your primary role will be in supporting the Acquiring Director in ensuring that the merchant onboarding process is maintained and operated in a way that factors all relevant scheme rules (existing and forthcoming) and that the outcome of internal merchant assessment is completed with any issues relating to scheme risk identified and addressed prior to granting approval to the merchant.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for ensuring that all processing merchants within the Bankingblocks portfolio remain compliant with current scheme rules and that any forthcoming changes to scheme rules are summarised, documented and distributed internally so that any modifications to policies, merchant registration, transaction messaging or any other item can be implemented as required and communicated effectively and in advance to all merchants, integrated partners and other stakeholders by our account managers and merchant support teams.

In this role, you will be communicating between multiple departments in order to report to the Acquiring Director with primary touchpoints of sales, underwriting, compliance and merchant support. In this role, your responsibilities are

  • Ensure that Bankingblocks merchant acquiring/payments offerings and policies remain updated and compliant with scheme rules and incorporate scheme risk as part of assessment (where applicable) at all times
  • Report to Acquiring Director where any potential impacts to existing or future business relating to scheme risk are identified
  • Consult with key staff (sales, underwriting, compliance) to address areas of scheme compliance as they relate to general policies and specific merchants as required

Required Skills

  • 2 years of experience in merchant risk management (specialising in scheme risk)
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Highly resourceful in using the internet and sourcing information in general
  • High competency with and able to adapt to new systems involved in workflow
  • Strong problem-solving skills and aptitude to manage new challenges in an evolving industry
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong vision of bigger-picture strategy and holistic approach to decision making
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) and highly proficient and adaptable with technology
